Republican Rockland County Legislator Chris Carey’s proposed bipartisan compromise for the 2015 tentative budget, calling for the elimination of 12 positions in the Rockland County Sheriff's Office and funding contract agencies at 75 percent, while meeting the state-imposed two-percent tax cap. Republican Rockland County Executive Ed Day’s proposed $772 million fiscal plan calls for the elimination of all 37 members of the Sheriff’s Department Patrol Division. Day supports Carey’s proposal, saying it is not perfect, but a firm step in the right direction.
