A radio personality in the Hudson Valley has died.

Longtime morning show host Mark Cooper, known as “Coop,” died Wednesday at age 49 from a stroke. His gravelly voice woke up listeners tuned to WPDH, a Cumulus Media station out of Poughkeepsie. The station’s program director, according to local media reports, said Cooper suffered the stroke Sunday. Cooper also suffered a stroke one year ago, and was back on the air a few weeks later. A message was posted on the WPDH Facebook page early Wednesday afternoon, saying everyone at WPDH is completely devastated. Hundreds of messages had already been posted within an hour. WPDH calls itself the home of rock and roll.
