A New York State Senator from the Hudson Valley is holding a roundtable later this morning on school safety. He is hosting the forum with a county sheriff.

Republican Senator Greg Ball and Putnam County Sheriff Donald Smith are hosting the roundtable to discuss school safety and mental-health issues following the December mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. The roundtable is open to the public and input on ideas and legislation to improve school safety not only in the county but throughout the state is welcome. There will be talk of providing funding to schools and communities for mental-health programs. Members of law enforcement, area education officials, and elected officials will take part in the roundtable that gets underway in Carmel Town Hall at 11.
