With the storm that began Wednesday, Hudson Valley emergency services personnel, power companies, and local government officials are keeping a close watch.  In Ulster County, there is a new way to get information about storms and other emergencies.

Ulster County Executive Michael Hein has established a county informational phone number with a recording which is periodically updated during a storm or other emergency.  He is asking residents to either check the county’s Web site, at www.UlsterCountyNY.gov, or if you lose power and Internet connection to call 888-455-1616 to find out about road closures, shelter information, and other emergency-related items.  And, as usual, only call 9-1-1 when there is a true emergency.
