Albany, NY – In today's Academic Minute, Dr. Holly Tucker of Vanderbilt University explains early modern Europe's cultural resistance to attempts at blood transfusion.

Holly Tucker is an associate professor at Vanderbilt University's Center for Medicine, Health & Society and the Department of French & Italian. The primary focus of her research is the history of medicine and in 2011 she published, Blood Work: A Tale of Medicine and Murder in the Scientific Revolution. She has also written for publications such as the Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, New Scientist, and Christian Science Monitor.
