Cuomo: Capital Region Close To Phase One Reopening

New York State will allow the Capital Region and Western New York to reopen in the days ahead if steps for increasing COVID-19 testing and tracing capacity are finalized. Governor Andrew Cuomo made the announcement Sunday during his daily briefing.

"In the Capital District [...] we need 383 tracers. We need an adiditional 166 identifed," said Cuomo. 
The governor also announced Sunday that anyone who is returning to work in the first phase of reopening can seek a diagnostic test. Cuomo, a Democrat, said he would consult with area leaders on Sunday. 
New York's PAUSE order was lifted Friday for some regions of the state that met seven metrics outlined by the state.
