Recently, an engineering firm hired by company Saint-Gobain released a more than 5,000-page report detailing its initial findings into groundwater pollution in Bennington, Vermont.
State officials are now reviewing the data, but have already contested the report’s conclusion that facilities owned by Saint-Gobain have not contributed to the detections of the chemical PFOA in Bennington’s east side.
While the state conducts its own investigation, a group of researchers and students at Bennington College is also trying to understand the contamination issue.
WAMC’s Lucas Willard spoke with Tim Schroeder, a geologist at Bennington College, about his latest research into understanding the underground water systems in the region.
