Investigators Probing Fire At Schenectady Newspaper Building

Firefighters were called to the  Daily Gazette's building on Maxon Road Extension in Schenectady early Sunday morning after fire alarms were activated at the building.

The newspaper said several small fires were extinguished shortly after 6 a.m. A 10' x 10' pile of newspapers was reportedly found burning in the press room.  Three smaller fires were discovered in other locations in the building.

The building was placed on lockdown Sunday. The newspaper said the  Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was on the scene with local authorities.

The incident has been labeled as suspicious.
