The state is planning to open a drug treatment center in northern New York.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Friday that the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, the state Department of Environmental Conservation, and the Office of General Services are working together on the project. The collaboration will enable the Champlain Valley Family Center to open a facility in Schuyler Falls.

The new treatment center will be on the campus of the former Adirondack Residential Center. That facility had previously been used by the State Office of Children and Family Services as a youth rehabilitation and conservation education center on land under DEC's jurisdiction.

The new facility will serve Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties and operate around the clock. No word on when it will open.
