Gloversville Public Library Gets $1 Million Gift

The fundraising campaign for the Gloversville Public Library has received has a $1 million boost.

The gift to the Gloversville Public Library Capital Campaign was announced Thursday by Pulitzer Prize winning author Richard Russo.

The $1 million donation from the Lucius N. Littauer Foundation aims to help expand and modernize the library.

The structure was originally built in 1904. The Capital Campaign aims to replace the building's furnace, add an elevator, and create a 6,000-square-foot youth center.

Campaign Co-Chair Christine Pesses said she hopes to have the project underway next year.
