A case against a retired police officer accused of killing his wife last year has been postponed.

69-year-old Charles Wilkinson, of Malta, is accused of killing his wife Kathleen Wilkinson. His wife was found by Saratoga County Sheriff’s deputies at home on the floor of a first-floor bedroom last May.

The cause of death was determined as asphyxiation by strangulation.

Wilkinson is being represented by Saratoga County Public Defender Oscar Shrieber, who was recently arrested for driving while intoxicated and suspended without pay.

First Assistant District Attorney Debra Kaelin told the Saratogian the case was pushed until next month.
