After weeks of closed-door negotiations, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and legislative leaders announced late this past Wednesday night that they had reached an agreement on the 2013-2014 state budget.

Despite the tentative deal, details on specific proposals continued to be hammered out through Thursday, with the New York State Senate scheduling a rare session to pass budget bills today. The New York State Assembly has scheduled a session for this upcoming Thursday, missing the self-imposed deadline of March 21 by a week, but still before the legally mandated deadline of April 1.

WAMC's Bob Barrett spoke today with WAMC Capitol Correspondent Karen DeWitt, who is covering today's proceedings.
