Albany, NY – Eleven State University of New York Schools have charted on a survey of the nation's best values in public colleges. Capital District Bureau Chief Dave Lucas reports.

Kiplinger's Personal Finance is out with its list of "Top 100 Best Values in Public Colleges." The list was compiled factoring in admission and retention rates, cost and financial aid, student-faculty ratios, and graduation rates.

Ualbany charted at #73, lowest SUNY on the list - Binghamton was highest at #6 - SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher says the recognition is well-deserved. New York State United Teachers president Richard Ianuzzi views the Kiplinger survey as an independent acknowledgment of how great the SUNY campuses are and what they're capable of doing. Chancellor Zimpher expects that while the news from Kiplinger will make SUNY colleges even more attractive to prospective students, New York's rocky financial situation remains a force to be dealt with.
