Some Vermont towns are cancelling Fourth of July celebrations even though the state is poised to lift pandemic restrictions.
Republican Gov. Phil Scott has promised to lift all pandemic precautions in Vermont by the Fourth of July but will do it sooner if 80% of the eligible population gets at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Vermont Public Radio reports that Wardsboro, Montpelier, Plymouth and Richmond all have decided to cancel their Independence Day celebrations because there was not enough time to plan and say there are too many questions.

Some other towns like Milton and Warren are going ahead with their celebrations.
