Women Picked For Most Leadership Roles In Vermont Legislature

Women are expected to hold most of the top leadership positions in the Vermont Legislature next year.

Democrats hold a majority and have nominated Sen. Becca Balint, of Windham County, to be Senate president.

WPTZ-TV reports that Sen. Alison Clarkson, a Democrat from Windsor County, was picked to be majority leader.

Voters elected Democrat Molly Gray to be lieutenant governor, and she will preside over the Senate.

In the House, Burlington Democratic Rep. Jill Krowinski is expected to be the next speaker. House Republicans will be represented by minority leader Pattie McCoy.

Senate Republicans picked Randy Brock to be minority leader.
