Vermont’s health commissioner says he frequently hears people questioning why residents still need to be so careful about the coronavirus.
Dr. Mark Levine says health officials are watching hospitalizations start to pick up slowly in the state. They are an indicator that lags several weeks behind the increase in cases.

Levine says death rates have improved nationwide even as hospitalization rates are worsening. But he says there is “no evidence that this is because the virus itself has changed or is less virulent at this time."
