The president of the University of Vermont wants to freeze tuition and other student costs in the next academic year.
UVM President Suresh Garimella said Monday he will present a proposal to the Board of Trustees that maintains a freeze on tuition for a third year. He also recommends that room and board fees, which average just over $13,000 annually, be frozen for the first time in more than three decades.  “These moves on behalf of our students are an investment in our future.”

Garamella also announced that a new fundraising initiative has begun, hoping to provide $150 million in financial support for undergraduate and graduate students.
