Holyoke, Massachusetts mayor and Democratic congressional candidate Alex Morse has announced a new round of Berkshire County endorsements. WAMC reports Morse is pledging to establish a dedicated Rural Desk if elected.

The progressive says he’s garnered the support of seven more municipal leaders from Williamstown to Great Barrington, adding to his list of endorsements from Berkshire leaders. He tells WAMC that his administration would specifically address the needs of the rural parts of the 1st House district.

“Rural communities are struggling with population decline, lack of availability of broadband, issues as it relates to family-owned farms and passing them on to future generations,” said Morse.

Morse is challenging 16-term incumbent Congressman Richard Neal in the September 1st primary.
