Vermont Governor Phil Scott told reporters Friday that now that the primary is over he is planning a more active general election campaign as he seeks a third term in November.
During the primary Scott insisted he was busy with the state’s COVID-19 response and would not campaign.  On Friday he said he will soon hire a campaign staff, and participate in fundraising and debates.  “It’ll be a more active campaign than you saw in the primary.”

Scott said he expects a dynamic race against Democratic candidate David Zuckerman, the lieutenant governor.  “I think we’ll see stark differences between the two of us but he’s a formidable candidate and formidable opponent.”

Scott won the Republican primary against four challengers with 72 percent of the vote.
