Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger is outlining a number of new actions he is implementing to try to stem the spread of the coronavirus in Vermont’s largest city.

Burlington’s mayor declared an emergency in the city Monday and announced three actions to enhance social distancing to prevent coronavirus spread. Beginning Wednesday all city buildings will have restricted access or be closed and services will be curtailed. Mayor Weinberger also ordered a 24-hour closure of all bars and cessation of in-person dining beginning at 6 a.m. Tuesday, St. Patrick’s Day.  “A day in which we here in Burlington traditionally have very large crowds.”

Bars, restaurants and other businesses are being shuttered across the Northeast.
