The University of Vermont Health Network — made up of six affiliate hospitals in Vermont and New York — says it's taking steps to address financial troubles after a more than $10 million loss last quarter.
Officials said the network missed its budget target by about $14.6 million or 2.5% in the quarter that ended on Dec. 31, 2019.

The network says each of its affiliates has a cost cutting plan with common goals to reduce capital spending; create a network approach to pharmacy services; and boost savings through group purchasing of supplies and equipment.

The network includes hospitals in Burlington, Berlin and Middlebury, Vermont and in Elizabethtown, Malone and Plattsburgh, New York.
