The City of Pittsfield, Massachusetts

Pittsfield, Massachusetts has appointed a new commissioner of Public Services and Utilities.

Ricardo Morales was hired by the city of around 43,000 in 2018 as its engineer. He’s served as the interim commissioner since October, when former head David Turocy retired. Tuesday, the Pittsfield city council voted to approve his ascension into the role fulltime. Mayor Linda Tyer says Morales will have a lot on his docket in 2020.

“We are undertaking a major upgrade to the city’s wastewater treatment plant, so that project is underway – so he’s going to need to be well informed and on top of that work," said the mayor. "We will be undertaking a major streetscape project in the Tyler Street neighborhood, so he’ll be focusing his attention on that.”

Morales will draw a yearly salary of $92,500, and oversee more than 80 employees.
