The Berkshire County District Attorney says a North Adams, Massachusetts woman has died from injuries sustained in a brutal attack by her husband over the summer.

The office says Charli Cook, 41, died at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts Sunday after being hospitalized in July. DA Andrea Harrington says Cook’s husband, Michael Cook, is incarcerated and has been held as danger to the community since the incident.

“He will remain behind bars while his case is being litigated in the courts," Harrington told WAMC. "He was previously indicted on charges of assault to murder, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a household member, and armed assault with intent to murder. We will be seeking a first degree murder indictment against Mr. Cook.”

Harrington made domestic assault one of the signature issues of her 2018 campaign, and created a taskforce to address the issue in Berkshire County in April.
