A residential addiction treatment center is asking the state of Vermont for permission to offer more beds to older men.
Valley Vista in Bradford made the request in an application pending before the Green Mountain Care Board.

The Valley News reports that in an April letter, Valley Vista Treatment Director Amanda Hudak says the facility has "14 beds that are not being utilized at this time when there is a need for these beds for adults."

Valley Vista Bradford has a license from the state for a total of 80 beds, 14 for males ages 16 to 22, 44 for adult men and 22 for adult women. Experts say treating young people in their communities is thought to more effective.
