Motorists stymied by construction in downtown Burlington, Vermont, will have access to a discounted parking deal amid road closures.
Business owners in the area of St. Paul Street, which is closed until August, say they are bracing for a dip in pedestrian and car traffic amid the construction. The Burlington Free Press reports parking deals were announced Monday by city officials as part of a community outreach campaign.

Signs touting first-hour-free parking — and a dollar for every hour after — were in place Monday morning at street garage entrances to the new Champlain College student apartments.

The Public Works Department says the summer construction season will also see water main repairs and re-pavement projects, along with likely work at City Hall Park.
