Vermont House Debates Abortion Rights Legislation

The Vermont House began debating a proposal Wednesday that would guarantee a woman's right to an abortion if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, the decision that legalized abortion across the country.
Proponents say H.57 is needed to ensure that women in Vermont continue to have access to abortion services that are available to them now.

The discussion in the lower chamber worked through a series of amendments, many of which sought to restrict access to abortion in the state.

If the bill being debated in the House passes, it will go on to the Senate
