Vermont's House members would start voting on bills electronically if lawmakers approve a proposal from Chittenden County Representative Jim Harrison.
The Vermont House is one of a few House chambers that doesn't use an electronic voting system to tally roll call votes. Republican Representative Jim Harrison told Vermont Public Radio that instead, the clerk reads each name and records the response from all 150 lawmakers, which can take more than 15 minutes.

Harrison says he understands that's the tradition, but he believes the Legislature has a responsibility to change with the times and make more efficient use of its time.
