The Vermont House on Tuesday failed to override Governor Phil Scott’s second budget veto.

Two-thirds of the members present needed to vote in favor of the override.  House Speaker Mitzi Johnson announced the results of the roll call.   “Those voting yes 90. Those voting no 51 and you have failed to override the Governor’s veto”

The House must now craft a third budget bill and pass it before the beginning of the fiscal year on July 1 or there will be a state government shutdown. A shutdown would affect government operations from hospitals to prisons, even state parks
