A contentious proposal to build a Walmart Supercenter in Pittsfield, Massachusetts now has a site plan.

A petition asking the Pittsfield City Council to go on record supporting a $30 million Walmart Supercenter at William Stanley Business Park was tabled in April, and hasn’t been publicly discussed since.

Now, developer Waterstone Retail Development has formally submitted a site plan for the project. Walmart would relocate its store and 200 employees at Pittsfield’s Berkshire Crossing Shopping Center to the business park.

The plan is part of Waterstone’s larger project, known as Woodland Crossing, on the former General Electric site. Walmart is the third large-scale retailer Waterstone has pitched for the site in six years.

The plan needs to be approved by the City Council.
