Lenox, Massachusetts voters will have the chance to scrap the local school nickname in May.

The Lenox School Committee decided at its annual retreat to give voters a chance to ditch the school’s “Millionaires” nickname. It refers to the town’s Gilded Age reputation.

In a recent survey, students favored removing the mascot, saying they were bullied by other schools and spectators who don’t know the town’s history.

The vote will be in May.

There will be a screening of a local documentary tonight at 7 at the Duffin Theatre in Lenox about both sides of the argument.
