The Berkshire Metropolitan Planning Organization wants to see how its federal transportation dollars are being spent.

The Metropolitan Planning Organization says it wants to think "outside of the box" to address some of the issues with the Berkshires’ public transportation system.

The MPO allots federal funding to the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority, which has had to cut back its hours and service due to financial struggles.

The MPO plans to compare how the county’s transportation system matches up against other rural systems, and will allot funding for improvements.
