Longtime Springfield Teachers Union President To Retire

    After two decades as president of the teachers union in the second-largest public school system in Massachusetts, Tim Collins is formally retiring at the end of the month.  

      Collins was a middle school math teacher for 25 years and for the last 20 years was president of the 2,600- member Springfield Education Association. 

      He’s recognized statewide as a forceful advocate for unions, and public education.
