Congressman Peter Welch met with dairy farmers in St. Albans, Vermont, to discuss what he calls a "battle plan" for the upcoming farm bill which expires in 2018.
Rep. Peter Welch, a Democrat, met with about 10 farmers at the St. Albans Cooperative on Tuesday to discuss how a voluntary insurance program that hasn't helped many farmers can be improved.

He talked about concerns that President Donald Trump's immigration policies may impact dairy farms.

Welch also stopped at a food bank to discuss the impact of the President’s proposed budget cuts to social safety nets. "This Trump budget is, from my perspective, a very bad budget.”

Welch is touring the state this week to discuss the impact of Trump's budget on Vermonters.
