A man who joined the U.S. Army straight out of college, served in the Gulf War, and who has volunteered for numerous community organizations and activities is being honored as the 2015 Springfield Veteran of the Year. During a City Hall ceremony, the Springfield Veterans Activity Committee announced the selection of Col. John Driscoll for the 29th annual honor. Driscoll is personnel director for the Massachusetts Army National Guard. He spoke with WAMC’s Pioneer Valley Bureau Chief Paul Tuthill.
