Six Vermont companies will be receiving a total of just over $734,000 in grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to help add value to the products they produce.
The grants are designed to support agricultural and forestry producers by enhancing the value and diversity of their products.
The grants were announced Tuesday in Richmond by Assistant Agriculture Secretary Gregory Parham.
The largest grant, $250,000, is going to Champlain Valley Farm in Addison to help build a supply chain of naturally raised pork products.
Stonewood Farm of Orwell is receiving almost $246,000 to expand all natural turkey production.
