Vermont's Roman Catholic bishop will be following Pope Francis to New York City and Philadelphia this week, but will spend most of his time with reporters.

The bishop of the statewide Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington, the Most Reverend Christopher Coyne will be in the media centers assisting the press during the Pope’s visit. In an interview last week with WAMC he said he would be happy for any chance to meet the pontiff,  but his primary responsibility is in the background.  "He's going to meet with all the bishops of the United States.  I may get a chance to shake the Holy Father’s hand and perhaps receive a blessing from him.”

Bishop Coyne flew Washington, D.C. on Sunday.  Among his responsibilities is to answer reporters' questions about Catholic rituals.
