Former Lieutenant Governor Candidate Charged With Campaign Finance Violations

The Vermont Attorney General  has filed a civil lawsuit against the losing candidate in last fall’s Lieutenant Governor’s campaign.

Attorney General Bill Sorrell says former Progressive and Democratic candidate Dean Corren violated campaign finance laws after he accepted public financing and then he solicited and obtained assistance in an e-mail message to Vermont Democratic Party Supporters

AUDIO: “The legislature, when it approved our public financing system, was very clear that there are strings attached and you gotta abide by them or there are significant penalties.”

Corren has filed a counter-suit in federal court.
