Vermont, New York and Quebec renewed a pact on Monday to preserve Lake Champlain and its watershed.

Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin, Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard and New York officials renewed the Memo of Understanding on Environmental Cooperation on the Management of Lake Champlain.

The three governments will share research and information on water quality and conservation efforts. A new provision of the 5 year agreement recognizes the relationship between clean water and resilience to floods.

The agreement was first signed in 1988.
