Vermont Attorney General Discusses Legal Issues Facing State

The Vermont legislature passed a law last session requiring the labeling of genetically modified foods.  It was immediately challenged by major food producers.  Vermont Attorney General Bill Sorrell is defending the law. That was among the topics he discussed earlier this week with WAMC’s North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley.
    
Vermont’s GMO labeling law is in the midst of a court battle, and Attorney General Bill Sorrell says he’s confident about the arguments they have made in the courts.

A new GMO labeling law hearing is scheduled for Feb. 4 and the written comment period has been extended to Feb. 12.
