The case against a company that the Vermont Attorney general’s office claims is violating the state’s Consumer Protection Act will move forward in the courts.
The Vermont Attorney General announced Tuesday that a judge refused to dismiss the state’s case against MPHJ Technology Investments.
The state filed suit against the Delaware company in may of 2013 in a patent trolling case. MPHJ claims to have a patent on the process of scanning documents and attaching them to email via a network.
The Attorney General’s office says the company sent deceptive demand letters to businesses and non-profits across Vermont in violation of the state’s Consumer Protection Act. The company claims the state does not have sufficient jurisdiction.
