The Burlington School Board has appointed an interim superintendent after the last one resigned following a report that showed her office had been making budget errors.

The Burlington Free Press reports Stephanie Phillips, the district's curriculum director, was named interim superintendent Tuesday. She had served as acting superintendent for several weeks after former Superintendent Jeanne Collins resigned.

A search for a permanent superintendent is planned within the next couple of months, with the goal of hiring someone by March 1, 2015.
