Landmark College in Putney is planning to build a $10 million education and research center focused on science, technology, engineering and math.

Landmark College serves students with learning disabilities.

College president Peter Eden tells Vermont Public Radio students who drop out are often not earning degrees "because the one-size-fits all educational model does not serve them well."

Eden also thinks targeting these students for course work in science fields could address the skills gap for jobs including engineers, biologists and mathematicians.

Construction of the new facility is expected to begin in August.
