Last week, Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger joined a U.S. Conference of Mayors’ initiative against racism and discrimination. It was announced to coincide with commemorations of the 50th anniversary of the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Weinberger tells WAMC’s North Country Bureau Chief Pat Bradley that implementing the 10-point plan of action against racism is an appropriate way to commemorate the tragedy.

Mayor Weinberger discussed other city issues, including waterfront redevelopment.  The Waterfront Access North project comprises nearly six acres. Major construction on the waterfront development is expected to begin next spring.
