Financial disclosure forms show that the Vermont gubernatorial primary in Vermont was the most expensive in the state's history.
Three gubernatorial candidates raised more than $1 million each and some spent more than $1 million.
The Times Argus reports that forms filed Monday by candidates show that Lt. Gov. Phil Scott raised nearly $870,000 overall in his Republican gubernatorial primary campaign and spent less than half. Scott beat Bruce Lisman, who raised and spent more than $2 million, most of which was self-funded.
Democratic gubernatorial primary winner Sue Minter reported raising a total of $1,057,000 overall. She's beginning the general election with $53,800 cash on hand. Her opponent Matt Dunn raised more than $1 million and spent just under that amount.
