David Shankbone

On this week’s 51%, we’ll hear from actress Swoosie Kurtz about her memoir, and her relationship with her mother. Then we turn to a relationship of an entirely different sort. And a high school student aspires to a better relationship with her sister.

Multiple Tony, Emmy, Obie and Drama Desk Award-winner Swoosie Kurtz is a Broadway icon whose work also include movies like Liar, Liar; Dangerous Liaisons; Citizen Ruth and the televisions hits Sisters, Pushing Daisies, and Mike and Molly. She is the author of Part Swan, Part Goose: An Uncommon Memoir of Womanhood, Work, and Family, and spoke with 51% Joe Donahue.

That was 51%’s Joe Donahue speaking actress Swoosie Kurtz about her book, Part Swan, Part Goose: An Uncommon Memoir of Womanhood, Work, and Family. We will bring you part two of the interview in the next 51%.

Bill and Becca have been together for 10 years. And, between the 2 of them, they’ve since had more than 30 other partners. Unconventional, yes, but it’s not what you think, exactly. Reporter Chloe Prasinos explains.

We turn now to a relationship where not enough is said, not enough actions shown. In this poem, Daniela wishes that her relationship with her sister were closer.

And that’s our show for this week. Thanks to Katie Britton for production assistance.  Our executive producer is Dr. Alan Chartock. Our theme music is Glow in the Dark by Kevin Bartlett. This show is a national production of Northeast Public Radio.
