Months after U.S. Senator from Maryland Barbara Mikulski and Connecticut Congresswoman RosaDeLauro introduced the Paycheck Fairness Act, DeLauro says new research shows that closing the gender
pay gap would improve women’s Social Security benefits as well as Social Security’s finances overall. She teamed up recently with officials from Social Security Works to release the research and highlight additional benefits to pay equity. (:30)

2014 has been a mile marker for women, especially when it comes to politics. While Western women have taken a step forward, headlines suggest women in many Islamic countries have taken two leaps back. 51%’s Dave Lucas has the following story.
