Albany, NY – Antoine van Agtmael is Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Emerging Markets Management LLC and a director of Strategic Investment Partners. He is widely considered a pioneer in emerging markets investing, having coined the term "emerging markets." Mr. van Agtmael has served as Division Chief in the World Bank's Treasury operations and as Deputy Director of the Capital Markets Department at the International Finance Corporation. At the IFC, he created the world's first emerging markets equity index.
He is the author of several books on investing in emerging markets and has taught courses at Georgetown Law Center, Thammasat University, and the Harvard Institute of Politics. His latest book is titled "The Emerging Markets Century: How a New Breed of World-Class Companies Is Overtaking the World."
Antoine received his undergraduate degree from the Netherlands School of Economics, an M.A. from Yale University and M.B.A. from New York University's Stern School. He and his wife Emily have two children.
