Albany, NY – Alan Chartock moderates a discussion exploring the issues and challenges surrounding the achievement gap in New York State. Taking part in the discussion are New York State United Teachers President Richard Iannuzzi, Deputy Secretary for Education Manny Rivera; Albany City Schools Superintendent Eva Joseph and Billy Easton, Executive Director of the Alliance for Quality Education. The panel discusses how educators and the government can work together to end the achievement gap and explore some of the challenges including poverty, a lack of early childhood education, inadequate access to health insurance, sub-standard housing and unemployment.
