Most of us are trying to forget 2020. The pandemic sickened millions and upended everyday life, disrupting the rhythms many of us didn’t realize we were so dependent on. For many, that includes the sounds of a nightly baseball game.

Eventually, Major League Baseball did launch a shortened 60-game season, but the stadiums were empty, the teams were often playing far from home, and the interviews will limited to a webcam.

MLB.com Yankees beat writer Bryan Hoch looks back on 2020 in his new book “The Bronx Zoom: Inside the New York Yankees’ Most Bizarre Season."

A lifelong resident of the Capital Region, Ian joined WAMC in late 2008 and became news director in 2013. He began working on Morning Edition and has produced The Capitol Connection, Congressional Corner, and several other WAMC programs. Ian can also be heard as the host of the WAMC News Podcast and on The Roundtable and various newscasts. Ian holds a BA in English and journalism and an MA in English, both from the University at Albany, where he has taught journalism since 2013.
