The mayor of Gloversville, New York has pleaded guilty to a violation, ending a legal battle that dates back to shortly after his narrow reelection victory last fall. The Daily Gazette reportsDayton King pleaded guilty to a violation in town court on Monday, a day before his trial was to begin.

He was facing an official misconduct charge related to private personnel information he released during a debate against mayoral challenger William Rowback, Jr. The newspaper reports King must pay a $250 fine and apologize publicly. Rowback defeated King in last year’s Republican primary, but lost the general election on a recount.
